This “Contribution to Organisation” Award recognises YBhg Dato’ Boonler Somchit’s contribution to skills development in Penang. 

YBhg Dato’ Boonler Somchit’s passion for skills development has impacted on various groups such as factory workers and school leavers. He has made significant difference to the lives of many Malaysian. Under his leadership, The Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) has achieved much more. It is the first industry-led, government supported training set-up in Malaysia and this model has been emulated by other states in Malaysia and in the ASEAN Region. 

PSDC today is a powerhouse in skills training, providing techinical training in manufacturing and offering opportunity for continuing education to employees and school leavers. The contributions of Dato’ Boonler has directly and indirectly led to the development and growth of a high income state in the country today. 

The Asia HRD Congress 2011 Awards Committee is delighted to honour YBhg Dato’ Boonler Somchit for his outstanding contribution to skills development in Malaysia.
