Contribution to Organisation
The ‘Contribution to Organisation’ award recognises Canara Bank for innovations in developing a “knowledge” workforce. 

Founded in 1906, by the late Sri Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, a philanthropist, this small seed blossomed into a limited company as ‘Canara Bank Ltd.’ in 1910 and became Canara Bank in 1969 after Nationalisation and is presently a financial conglomerate and a financial supermarket. 

Canara Bank has been a fore runner in establishing its training system since 1950’s. It’s Apex Level Training College at Bangalore ably supported by 20 Regional Centres spread over the length and breadth of the country taking care of the knowledge, skill and attitudinal development of the employees. Being proactive to the requirements of an empowered workforce, the bank also focuses extensively on developing a “knowledge” workforce. 

The emerging challenges of a liberalised economy entails a responsibility for developing motivated and knowledgeable workforce to meet the requirements of Canara Bank. 

The Asia HRD Awards Committee is honoured to bestow upon Canara Bank the Contribution to Organisation Award 2014 for its contribution to developing an empowered workforce.
