This “Contribution to Society” Award recognises YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Bin Abdul Ghani’s contribution to Human Capital Development in Sarawak. 

YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Moshidi bin Abdul Ghani has contributed over decades to human capital development. A graduate of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA, Datuk Amar started his career as a management executive with Petronas in 1980. 

Since the late eighties, Datuk Amar has held several positions in various government sectors and in important social organizations. He was Sarawak State’s Director for Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development and Quality. He has also been an active member of important social organizations. He has been awarded many prestigious awards in recognition of his services and contributions to the lives of people in Sarawak. 

In all the positions he held, he actively demonstrated his commitment to skills development. His lifelong selfless ambition is to develop the State Civil Service in order for it to support the private sector. In this, his mission is to improve the quality of life for Sarawakians through education and skills training. 

Datuk Amar has pioneered several path-breaking initiatives to champion the transformation of the State Civil Service. He also actively supported the Government of Sarawak to usher in innovative projects to make Sarawak, an education hub. 

The Asia HRD Congress 2011 Awards Committee is delighted to honour YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Bin Abdul Ghani’s for his commitment to human capital development in Sarawak.
