Contribution to Organisation
This “Contribution to the organisation” Award recognises Mr Emirsyah Satar for his contribution to talent management, strategy and planning of Garuda Indonesia.

Mr. Emirsyah Satar has contributed to the transformation of onceailing Indonesia’s flag carrier airline, Garuda Indonesia, from loss of 811 billion Rupiahs in 2004, to acquire profits of 60 billion billions in 2007. In 2008, Garuda Indonesia’s profits soared to 669 billion. This outstanding record-breaking profit had a profound meaning since international airlines industry has suffered tremendous losses triggered by global financial crisis. He has devoted his time, thoughts and efforts to build and transform Garuda Indonesia, through, among others, shaping up its human capital entity.

Emir led Garuda Indonesia in a Quantum Leap program, with the goal to compete in regional and international flying routes. He has strengthened Garuda Indonesia’s fleet by adding up and modernizing the aircrafts. Since Emir took over as CEO in 2005, Garuda Indonesia has experienced a turn-around change for the better in many aspects. The Garuda Indonesia transformation is not only in financial sector or by adding the state-of-the-art aircrafts, but also the enhancement of service.

He has received the award of “Best of The Best CEO in 2009”. This was awarded by staff, assessors and readers of “Warta Ekonomi” Magazine, Jakarta. He is determined that Garuda Indonesia will fly off “in higher ground”, to being five-star airline in the world in the year 2014.

In 2009, Garuda Indonesia became a four-star rated airline. Garuda Indonesia has passed IATA Audit, being the first Indonesian airline to acquire such recognition.

The Asia HRD Congress 2010 International Awards Committee is delighted to honour Mr Emirsyah Satar for his contribution to human capital development in organisation.
