Dr. Kamal Khir is currently the Director Institute of Bankers Malaysia (Institut Bank-Bank Malaysia), a Professional Institute for the Banking and Financial Services in Malaysia. He is also the CEO of Malaysia Banking Academy, an Institute of Higher Learning. 

He has over 20 years of experience in the field of Human Resource Development having held positions such as the Head of Sime Darby Human Resource Development Centre, Group Manager-Training & Development, Sime Darby Group, and managerial positions in PLUS, Grundig, and The New Straits Times Group. He was also engaged as a consultant/facilitator for the Prime Minister's Department National Civic Bureau and Ministry of Agriculture. He was also instrumental in setting up the Sime Darby HRD Centre in 1993. 

Dr. Kamal is a Master Trainer certification in Interaction Management Techniques, Service Plus/Customer Service, Skills for Empowered Workforce, Strategy Programme and Targeted Selection. He is also a qualified Internal Quality Auditor and Lead Assessor by Llyods and Portsmouth University, UK. 

At national level, he is a member of the Committee for Standard & Certification, National Vocational Training Council (MLVK), Ministry of Human Resources, Chairman of Skill Development Committee for Business Management, MLVK, Ministry of Human Resources and Chairman of Skill Development Committee for Banking, MLVK, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia. 

At international level, he a member of the Education Committee of the Asean Banking Association and Vice President, Training & Development, HRD Gateway. 

Dr. Kamal's valuable contributions to the National Consultative Panel (NCP) On Human Resource Development, Malaysian Institute for Human Resource Management (MIHRM), Malaysian Society for Training and Development (MSTD) are huge. As for corporation, he has contributed towards human resource development especially at Sime Darby Human Resources Development Centre. With his current challenging position as Director of Institute of Bankers Malaysia and CEO, Malaysia Banking Academy will see even more contributions towards the organization.
